Epilators Have Come a Long way
April 30th, 2009 by admin
The first epilators were released under the Epilady brand, which made its debut in 1985. The Epilady used a coiled spring on its head. The spring was attached to an electric motor which flexed the spring in a circular motion. As one side of the spring contracted, it gripped the hairs between its coils, pulled it out, and released it as the other side of the spring contracted. The Epilady had a few fans, but most women found the experience too painful.
The rotating disk design found on today’s epilators is a tremendous improvement over the coiled spring design. The disks grip the hair securely just like a pair of tweezers. The new Epilady hair removal devices have abandoned the coiled spring and have gone to the rotating disk.
