Mexican Couches Soft as Church Pews

Many aspects of living in Mexico mirror the day to day in the US but there are some things that are just inexplicably different. Like couches, for instance. For some reason Mexicans prefer their sofas to be hard as a rock. I know gringos like things perhaps too soft, overstuffed being the word that comes to mind. While they may look comfy and soft the average couch feels like sitting on church pews. Forget taking a nap on one, Dagwood. The floor might be softer. Beds are also very firm so I imagine it is just a cultural preference. I wonder if Mexicans living in the US think the couches and beds are too soft?
